BIOL-376 Developmental Neurobiology

  • This guided seminar course introduces upper level undergraduates to selected topics of the development of the nervous system of vertebrates and invertebrates. Students will read, present and discuss review articles and primary research literature investigating molecular, cellular, evolutionary and embryological aspects of neurodevelopment. Topics will include dorsal-ventral patterning, induction of the neural plate, neuronal differentiation, axon guidance, and synapse formation. Recent technological advances of each subject and the presentation by the media of these topics to the lay public will be discussed.

    cap: limited to 16. Preference given to Senior neurobiology majors. Offered Spring 2010 and is scheduled for Fall of 2010.
