BIOL-401 Senior Seminar in Biology

    • This seminar is required for all seniors in the Biology of Global Health and Neurobiology majors. Students in the Biology of Global Health major should enroll in either BIOL-401-01 or BIOL-401-02; Neurobiology majors should enroll in BIOL-401-03. While students in these majors are given priority during enrollment, students in the Biology major are welcome to enroll, pending space availability.

    The senior seminar will focus each year on a different topic of importance to the respective majors. This course is largely student-led. Students will meet weekly to define the parameters of the topic, review the relevant foundational science, and then explore previous and current research in the field. The work during the semester will provide new perspectives and insight into the problem and offer suggestions for future directions. You will have the opportunity to showcase these ideas in two forums: in November an expert in the field will join the group for a two-hour scientific discussion and in December each student will present a formal prospectus for a grant proposal.
