BIOL-101 First-Year Seminar in Biology

This seminar will be conducted biweekly over two semesters. It aims to introduce new Biology majors to the program and the faculty. Research in which undergraduate students may engage and the four majors that are available in the Department will be presented. Guidance on enhancing study skills, particularly as they relate to the first year courses in Biology and Chemistry will be discussed as will diversity of careers available to biologists. A biology related popular science book will be assigned for each semester. The course is graded on a pass/fail basis with attendance and engagement being considered.
