Fall for 2016-2017
The purpose of this course is to provide a basic understanding of immunobiology. The course will focus on basic principles of innate and adaptive immunity and how they function in homeostasis. Students will learn the different cells and organs comprising the system and how these cells communicate. We will then go on to examine regulation and dysregulation of the immune system and how this impacts on resistance to infectious agents, cancer, transplantation and allergy. The application of immunological principles and methods to other areas of biomedical science will be central to our discussions.
The pre-requisites for this course are BIOL 170 OR BIOL 175 OR BIOL-151 or BIOL-152.
Prerequisites: BIOL-151 or BIOL-152
