GOVT-595 Evaluation and Conflict Resolution

GOVT-595 Evaluation and Conflict Resolution
Spring only
Faculty:
  • Rabin, David
  • This class will teach students the principles of evaluation. Students will learn how to create a logic model, establish variables and indicators, construct standards, and synthesize and integrate outcomes to obtain a judgment of worth. Students will also learn the basics of writing a questionnaire and conducting an interview, as evaluators often rely on interviews for data gathering. We will then survey how evaluation strategies have been applied to the study of conflict, including to balance of power, conflict termination, and post-conflict issues. Guest speakers for this class include a former insurgent from Rwanda, a former counterinsurgent from Colombia, and a former negotiator in many African conflicts.
