GOVT-517 Sport and Peacebuilding

During the first years of the new millennium the United Nations, the Olympic Movement and a number of civil society organizations across the globe, joined their forces to promote the concept of Sport for Development and Peace. In this class, students will learn the key theoretical and practical foundations of the conditions under which the institution of sport can help build peace in deep-rooted communual conflicts. This inter-disciplinary course will introduce students to a number of Sport for Peace programs and teach them how to design, monitor and evaluate programs and curricula.
