HIST-282 American Diplomatic History I

This survey of the history of American foreign relations follows the development of diplomacy in its international and domestic contexts from the colonial era to the aftermath of World War I. Topics covered include: the problems of organizing a new nation, expansion in North America and beyond, the impact of racism, war, and revolution, the rise to world power, as well as consideration of the economic, political, and social imperatives behind foreign policy making. Fall.
