INAF-373 African Military Conflict

INAF-373 African Military Conflict
Professor Howe
Warfare plagues Africa's attempt to establish legitimate and effective governments. The course examines (1) the relationship of the political state to military professionalism, (2) initial and sustaining causes of conflict, and (3) military methods of reducing conflict (improvement of national militaries, sub-regional and regional cooperation, and non-African assistance). The course will secondarily examine post-conflict issues as well as HIV/AIDS within African militaries.
