LING-467 Information Retrieval

LING-467 Information Retrieval

  • After a brief overview of concepts underlying information retrieval, this course turns to information extraction, beginning with the classic bootstrapping from seed patterns and then considering more recent machine learning techniques. Additionally, we will address related topics in NLP, including referent resolution within and across documents, extracting temporal relationships among events, and topic detection. Students will complete a project unifying these areas, such as building a small systems to automatically extract biographies or histories of people or organizations from a collection of documents.
