MATH-240 Applied Statistical Methods

MATH-240 Applied Statistical Methods

  • This course, a follow-up for Math-040 or Math-140, is an applied statistics course. After a brief review of the normal distribution and probability plots, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, goodness of fit tests, and simple linear regression, we will study the following topics: ANOVA, MANOVA, inference for linear regression, multiple regression, logistic regression, and nonparametric methods.
    Classroom material will be accompanied by hands-on experience using the statistical software package Minitab. Also, the instructor will consider advanced topics such as missing data, introduction to time series, experimental design, etc. as time permits.
    Credits: 3
    Prerequisites: Math-140 or Math-040
