MGMT-611 Leadership and Management of Nonprofit Organizations

This course provides a comprehensive view of principles and practices related to the leadership, management and governance of nonprofit organizations. The objective of the course is to develop students’ capacity to lead and manage in the nonprofit sector. A second objective is to enable students going into business, government or other fields to develop an understanding of nonprofits so they may better relate in terms of partnership building, board service, volunteering and as funders. Students completing the course will have an understanding of the nonprofit sector and its characteristics, will be able to identify and analyze organizational problems and opportunities and propose strategic approaches, comprehend the major issues in nonprofit management and appreciate key challenges facing the nonprofit sector and its organizations in the future.
