THEO-073 Jesuit Education
Fall only
Looking through the lens of the Catholic imagination, this course will first consider the nature of the human person. In light of that consideration, we will explore the nature and aims of Jesuit education using themes and images of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola as our framework. Students will be asked to examine and evaluate their experience of Georgetown, with special attention to the differences between a Georgetown degree and a Georgetown education. Materials to be utilized in this course will include texts, short stories, poems, speeches, Vatican documents, and music. The course will culminate in each student writing a final paper entitled, “My Georgetown Experience: A Theological Reflection.”
Credits: 3.00
