ARTH-136 Dutch Art in the Age of Rembrandt

The life of Rembrandt van Rijn spanned the great age of Dutch culture and political power that followed the nation's independence from Spain in the seventeenth century. This course will focus on the art of Rembrandt and his contemporaries, many of whom established new categories of subject matter, including genre painting, landscape and still life. Fall.
