This course will use case discussion and analysis to synthesize principles, theories and concepts
necessary for effective decision making related to human resource management. Qualitative
models of decision theory provide the framework for analyzing complex human resource
operational issues and their consequent impact upon employees. This course is integrative,
incorporating constructs such as leadership, change management, etc found in the Organization
Leadership course, HESY 625. Evidenced based managerial decisions and their effect upon
employees will also be evaluated. Legal, ethical and regulatory dimensions of human resource
management will be explored. This course also seeks to introduce students to fundamental
constructs of human resource management such as compensation, recruitment, labor –
management relationships, and benefits administration.
