FREN-293 French for Professional Purposes: Business French
The goal of this course is to teach French business concepts, structures, and practices in a contemporary context. We will discuss various aspects of the French economy (trade, transportation, banks, the European Union); we will become familiar with certain firms and learn how they operate; and we will look at everyday business practices in French-speaking countries. The course will focus on active use of French business terminology through oral presentations, role playing, summaries of articles, and drafting of business letters. This course prepares students for the certificate examination given every semester by the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This course fulfills the upper-division post-advanced language requirement for the French major.
