HESY-205 Legal Environment of Health Care
Spring for 2013-2014
This course examines the legal dimensions of the U.S. health care system. Patient rights and responsibilities and corresponding managerial obligations are also examined. Current legal trends regarding malpractice, professional and corporate liability are analyzed. The functions of a compliance program, risk management and legal counsel in a health care organization are defined, and the impact of the regulatory environment on the delivery of health care and the operation of health care systems are analyzed. Employee rights and requirements, including labor law, labor relations and management practices, are also analyzed.
