INAF-577 Transgovernmental Politics

INAF-577 Transgovernmental Politics
Fall only
Faculty:
  • Newman, Abraham
  • This seminar re-examines the assumption common in International Relations literature that states are unitary actors. In relaxing the assumption, we will explore how domestic bureaucracies, courts, regulators contribute to international governance and politics. Course material will cover the interaction of transgovernmental actors in networks, their relationship to international organizations, and the attempts by national executives to both promote and constrain their behavior. Students will be asked to choose a set of transgovernmental actors and do an in-depth study of its functions and politics.
