INAF-445 Europe as World Region
Spring for 2009-2010
Spindler, M.
In the seminar a systemic (or “bird”) perspective will be taken to look at “Europe” as just one out of many world or “macro” regions in the current global system. We will investigate into what is unique about Europe as a macro-region and to what extent it is comparable to other macro-regions (and what are useful parameters of comparison).
The transformation process of European integration since the 1980s will be of particular importance as it is directed towards a more “open” or “global” Europe.
With regard to the European role as a global actor in international politics who shapes the contours of the global system we will discuss the issue of “actorness” of regions.
