KREN-011 Intensive First Level Korean I

This course is open to students who have no or very limited knowledge of Korean. This intensive course is designed to help students build a solid foundation in the basic language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) and gain cultural knowledge. Students are expected to engage themselves through intensive exercise with basic Korean sentence structures and oral practice with patterns of dialogue. Students are introduced to Korean culture through information from a variety of audio-visual and written resources. Also students will develop their reading and writing through various materials particularly designed for this course. Students will read simplified Korean stories, retell the stories, make a dialogue with partner, and act out role-play exercises. Through this participation in the class, student will enhance their oral and written communication skills. Students are expected at the end of one full year to be able to express themselves in simple conversation related to social situations dealing with personal needs. Active participation in class, various oral and written assignments, frequent quizzes and tests, and mid-term and final exams will be required. Prerequisite: None.
