LASP-487-01 Indigenous Social Movements of Latin America

This course provides a perspective on the uses of ethnic identity as a resource for grassroots social and political movements, economic development programs, and the broader processes of nation-building in Latin America. The course will expose students to theories, themes, issues and empirical studies related to the utilization of indigenous cultural resources in social mobilization, citizen political participation, constitutional reform and forging alternative models for socioeconomic development.
