LING-398 Reading and Multilingualism
Spring for 2017-2018
Reading and Multilingualism will change your perspective about reading (and writing). You will question your presumptions and assumptions about the process of reading. You will realize the complexities involved in decoding a word, making sense of the word, and connecting the words for deep comprehension. You will have a better understanding of why some people struggle with spelling and why some people hate to write. At the same time, you will investigate reading materials for effectiveness, evaluate strategies and methodologies in a classroom, and design a final project based on your own literacy-based interests.
