LING-467 Information Retrieval

Survey of principles and techniques in information retrieval, information extraction, and other topics in NLP-
related documentprocessing. Specific topics include: automatic indexing, search techniques, query mechanisms (formal query languages, topic hierarchies, natural language queries, query-by-example), relevance feedback, document categorization, and evaluation methodology. Participants will also examine performance of selected commercial systems. Prerequisite: LING-360 or LING-361. Credits: 3
