MGMT-589 Advanced Oral Presentations

MGMT-589 Advanced Oral Presentations
Faculty:
  • Heino, Rebecca
  • We express ourselves and construct the relationships, organizations, and therefore the world in which we live, through communication. As one form of communication, effective presentation skills contribute to success in many areas of business as you are called on to “brief” someone or to “sell” an idea, a product, or a service. This module helps students capitalize on these opportunities by becoming more effective presenters. We explore impromptu and planned presentations, the importance of audience analysis, and the integration of technology within presentations. Given that this class is based on experiential learning, your self improvement is the focus. Some of this will result from readings which offer new perspectives on communication; most of this will come in the form of constant feedback, from me and your peers, across different speaking opportunities. You cannot be anonymous in this class and I encourage you to “put yourself out there” and allow this to be a stretching and growing experience for you.
