PHAR-562-01 Literature/Research in Pharmacology II

  • Literature Research in Pharmacology consists of literature-based research. In this literature-based option (section 01) students will be given a list of topics or develop an approved topic of their own (to choose two from) at the beginning of the semester to research (library) and develop a review paper (topic 1, midterm) and a 30-45 min presentation (topic 2, final). Faculty involvement includes aiding the students in methods of library research, discussing the scientific issues in the area of the student's research project, and helping in the organization of the written or oral presentation.

  • Laboratory Research in Pharmacology consists of research-based (section 02) courses. In the research-based option (section 02) students choose a laboratory and mentor and spend approximately 15 hrs/week on a research project. The student gives a presentation on such work at the end of the semester. Faculty involvement includes discussing with the student the scientific rationale of the project, teaching the appropriate laboratory techniques, aiding in experimental design, and helping develop the student's presentation.
