PHYS-551 Business Entrepreneurship Capstone
Professor Romanelli
This course is designed to provide students with the ability to function effectively in the demanding environment of a small start-up company. It considers the new venture creation process: business idea generation and evaluation, resources acquisition, customer identification, selling, developing and writing a business plan, organization building, and the technical issues entrepreneurs face in tax, legal, and accounting areas. The course consists of case studies, in-class exercises, readings, guest speakers, and ends with the formation of a team to develop the business plan for a high-tech company. In addition to serving as a valuable entrepreneurial experience, this module allows the physics students to make contacts with M.B.A. students who will likely become future money experts in either venture capital or in high-tech start-up companies.
