Professors Gayer, Mathieu
This course explores the structure and impact of fiscal policy, with primary emphasis on the federal level. It provides an economic analysis of the impact of government expenditure and taxation policies on the allocation of resources and distribution of wealth. A rationale for government policies as a corrective device for "market failure" is also developed and used to discuss policies such as environmental regulations and transfer programs. (Prerequisite: PPOL 501, Introduction to Microtheory)
