PPOL-746 DEFENSE MANAGEMENT

The foremost responsibility of the United States government is to provide for the common defense. This seminar style course examines the context for national security, the making of defense policy, and the implementation of that policy. Part I surveys the context of American defense and national security. It will emphasize the post 9/11 security environment. Part II studies the defense policymaking process, with emphasis on who participates and how. Part III examines the implementation of defense policy within the Department of Defense. It will stress current activities and processes. Part IV looks at contemporary issues in national security and defense policy.
