PPOL-811-10 LEADERSHIP IN CRISIS AND DISASTER

It is likely that business and government leaders will face at least one full-blown crisis or disaster during their career – many face more than one. This course will prepare you for making correct decisions when the world is watching and your community is on the line. By examining the disaster management structures in the US and internationally, and reviewing case studies, including the response to Hurricane Katrina, students will learn at what levels key decisions are made, and who are the important players. In addition, a review of US Homeland Security policy and national plans provides insights into the framework for policy and strategy in this rapidly-changing area. (1st module, 1.5 credits).
