This course will examine how the oversight of U.S. intelligence agencies both by the Congress and by elements of the Executive branch has evolved since the end of World War II to the present. While this evolution will be described roughly in chronological terms during the weekly lectures, the readings will focus upon significant developments along the way that illustrate the various aspects of the oversight process and highlight the institutional roles of the various players involved.
