SOCI-164 Japanese Society

  • This course provides an introduction to Japanese Society. Topics covered include social structure, norms and values, religion, family, gender, community, current social problems and social change. Throughout the course, comparisons will be made to the United States and other societies. The course aims to provide a basic analytic understanding of contemporary Japanese society and a comparative perspective that may be applied to other societies as well as to a deeper analysis of Japan.
