SPAN-241 Survey of Spanish Literature I
This course provides an overview of Spanish literature from the Middle Ages until the end of the seventeenth century. Students will read selections from a variety of authors and genres (novel, short story, essay, theater, poetry). Readings will include texts by many of the great authors of Spain’s Golden Age, including Cervantes, Lope de Vega, Quevedo and Calderón. In addition, students will learn about major trends in literary criticism and read articles related to the reading selections.
