SPAN-242 Spain: Literature and Culture II
In this class we will read and discuss literature from the 18th century to the present. As we analyze texts from various genres (poetry, narrative, theater, and the essay), we will explore issues such as the relationship between fiction and reality, the different approaches to self-expression taken by authors during various cultural periods--Enlightenment, Romanticism, Realism, Avant-garde, etc--and how we as readers of the 21st century can, from our unique perspective, make the texts that we read relevant to our own lives.
