SPAN-493 Framed: Stories that Move in Chains
This course, structured as a research seminar for graduate students and advanced undergraduates, explores the nature of collections of stories gathered within frame tales, focusing on six of the many frame tale collections from the medieval and Early Modern Mediterranean traditions. Throughout the semester students will give frequent oral presentations, write two short essays, and develop original research projects incorporating both primary texts and critical perspectives, leading to a final research paper. Readings and class discussions in Spanish and English. Cross-listed with Comparative Literature and Medieval Studies.
