This course will provide an introduction to the fundamentals of energy and how it affects international relations. The course will provide students with an introduction to the basics of oil, gas, electricity and non-fossil fuel energy. It will also focus on the challenges faced by oil and gas exporting states (especially in governance and economic stability), as well as the challenges faced by importing states as they seek both to secure sufficient energy for their nations’ futures, and to respond to the emerging threat of climate change.
